Worn

“Worn” Tenth Ave. North
I'm tired
I'm worn
My heart is heavy
From the work it takes to keep on breathing
I've made mistakes
I've let my hope fail
My soul feels crushed
By the weight of this world
And I know that you can give me rest
So I cry out with all that I have left
Let me see redemption win
Let me know the struggle ends
That you can mend a heart that's frail and torn
I want to know a song can rise
From the ashes of a broken life
And all that's dead inside can be reborn
'Cause I'm worn
I know I need
To lift my eyes up
But I'm too weak
Life just won't let up
And I know that You can give me rest
So I cry out with all that I have left
And my prayers are wearing thin
I'm worn even before the day begins
I'm worn I've lost my will to fight
I'm worn so heaven so come and flood my eyes

“So God has given both his promise and his oath. These two things are unchangeable because it is impossible for God to lie. Therefore, we who have fled to him for refuge can have great confidence as we hold to the hope that lies before us. This hope is a strong and trustworthy anchor for our souls. It leads us through the curtain into God’s inner sanctuary.”  Hebrews 6:18-19

You have let your hope fail.  My little one, I Am the hope which is the eternal anchor for your soul.  If you release your hold on me, you have nothing left.  Hope is not evil.  You were told it was evil because false hope leads to destructive disappointment.  The hope that I give never leads to disappointment.  “And this hope will not lead to disappointment. For we know how dearly God loves us, because he has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with his love” (Romans 5:5).  I love you and I have given you the Holy Spirit who bears witness to your heart that I am your Good Heavenly Father.  I do not tease you with promises that inspire your heart only to leave you in despair.  The despair comes when you take your eyes off mine—when you refuse to keep your eyes on what I have for you.    I have created you to live with hope—belief and trust in My goodness both here and in the future.  It is impossible for Me to lie; when I tell you I have good for you it is a trustworthy statement.  Your soul was made to be anchored in My hope.  If you throw off the safety, security, and comfort of My hope you end up in a miasma of depression and despair.  You cannot live there.  Come back into My arms and the safety of My Hope.  You become worn when you leave the safety of My Hope.  It is a ballast and protective covering for your soul.  If you are secure in My love and goodness you are buoyed up no matter what waves and winds come your way.  Be My captive of hope; surrender yourself to being encased in My hope.  Here your heart is safe and your soul is encouraged.

“Return to your fortress, you prisoners of hope; even now I announce that I will restore twice as much to you.”  Zechariah 9:12
